Posted - 10/15/2009 : 9:34:03 PM There is another contractor besides Thompson that is in the process of getting setup to start all the piping on the 2 galvanize lines.
They will be hiring in about 2 weeks, as soon as they get there office setup with phone numbers I'll post it.
The pay is going to be $23 & $75 or $80 working 6-10's for 8 months.

And of course they won't give me one. I calculated it up last night and realized I am paying $1596 for a motel each month...$400 weekly or $57 daily. They jack the prices cause they have nothing but construction workers staying there. Every now and again you will see the random couple from out of state pull in. I feel sorry for them. Haha. Me and my wife found a travel trailor that is being rented out for $200 a week so we are moving in there tonight. Plus, it's only 8 miles from the job site. Which is great because I have been driving about an hour to and from work every day. Maybe get to save a little money now. I wish I could get on at a better site though. I've been welding for 10 years now and never in my life have it been this bad. Economy I mean. It use to be, you could go to a job and work it for a while then get tired of it and drag up and be on to the next job, and there were many choices. Welcome to 2009 I suppose.
Why wont they give u a release?
Just to be jerk offs I guess. All I know is they said im hired on with them and if I want to go they aint releasing me Ill have to drag up and wait 30 days.
They're dining on steaks while we eat bologna sandwiches. What the f@*#?? |

Posted - 12/22/2009 : 08:41:36 AM Chip has it backwards. You do it for the glory when your young. Then you realize your a number and they can build it without you and go for the benjamins. Thats what an "A" class fitter does cause i are one LMAO.

Posted - 12/20/2009 : 12:19:07 PM Slagchip - who are ya. Gimme a hint. I'm the older guy that was accused of pretty much doing what I wanted. Beat 'em out of about 200 grand in those 3 years. And nobody needs to give me any crap about pride in craftmanship and all that. I paid my dues on nukes in the early '80's. It's like I said in another post earlier. I ain't in it for the money anymore. Done made that years ago. I'm in it for the prestige! Ditto on synopsis of Clinton. Could be a beautiful place. Instead - it's the armpit of America! In 1908 Clinton had, per capita, more millionaires than anywhere in the world. Thus all the rundown mansions and such. Guess the Bible is right. The love of money is the root of all evil.

Posted - 12/20/2009 : 11:27:29 AM oh yeah, i was at that steel mill in alabama with thompason this last year before i took a job in iowa with Zachry, well that didn't work out so well, i'm a pipefitter and i'm not gonna hole watch outside in the blistering cold for 12 hours, i don't care who's turn it is to go in the hole, i'm not welding on a cold tank and i'm not your phucking hole watch, i don't know what them people where thinking, haha, i'm not broke, i'll drag the phuck up, bring on the pipe or i'm gone, so now i'm just floating around iowa working for mechanical contractors around the quad cities and around waterloo, it's cold and chitty up here but i'm here for the duration of the year, might be on my way to louisville in the spring...wheres all the pipe leads...

haha, clinton iowa sucks kock, i worked for a-lert at the cogen in clinton iowa and then jumped ship after reggie gave me a job, worked for MSI out there in clinton for a while, one of the worst companies i have ever worked for, and not to mention ADM being the worst coorporate citizen in america I could not possibly care less about either organazation, MSI or ADM, reggie is a piece of chit, i would never recommend anyone work for that bastard and as far as clinton iowa goes, that whole town could be swallowed by the river and it wouldn't hurt my feelings, they got people raping murdering and killing young girls and babies, robbin apartments and raping the women in front of their children at gun point and this has been going on for months in that little chit hole town and the phucking pigs can't seem to do anything about it but they are quick to catch a guy walking home from the bar and lock him the phuck up, i think the clinton cops are the real crooks, they are supposed to be protecting the public, not trying to phuck them over....what a failure..
